Economic Highlights
It’s expected to be a busy first full week of 2025, particularly in the US, with key employment, manufacturing, and services data being released for the final time before Donald Trump officially takes office on 20 January. Investors are also braced for the minutes from the December meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), scheduled for Wednesday.
Across the Atlantic, inflation data takes centre stage, as leading economies including France, Germany, Italy, and the eurozone all publish the latest figures from December, which could have a bearing on the strength of the euro going forward. Meanwhile, UK jobs data and retail sales for Germany and the eurozone will also be in focus this week.
