Economic Highlights
This week, global PMI releases will dominate, offering insights into how economies are faring as Q3 concludes. In the US, Federal Reserve (Fed) Chair Jerome Powell’s speech will be closely watched for clues, while focus will also be on the ISM PMI and September labour market report. With slower non-farm payrolls growth and a small unemployment rise expected, these events could present a clearer picture of the Fed’’s rate cut path.
In Europe, the final Q2 GDP for the UK and Eurozone inflation will be under the spotlight. Recent PMI data suggested diverging growth trends, so these updates may provide further insights into inflationary pressures and employment conditions across the region.
Over in the Asia-Pacific region, China’s PMI data will offer early indicators of Q3 economic performance, while Bank of Japan’s Tankan survey is set to reveal shifts in business sentiment. Meanwhile, Australia’s trade and retail sales figures will gauge how its economy is holding up amidst various global challenges.
