Economic Highlights

This week, in the US, markets will focus on the November labour market report, offering vital clues ahead of the Federal Reserve’s (Fed) December 17-18 meeting. Fed comments are expected to further shape rate expectations amid debates on the pace of cuts. Meanwhile, Friday’s release of the Non-Farm Payrolls data will also be critical, alongside ISM Manufacturing and Services PMIs, published earlier in the week.

In Europe, the third estimate of Q3 Eurozone GDP and German trade and factory orders will be key, especially as recent PMI data has hinted at ongoing challenges in the region’s goods-producing sectors. Over in the UK, construction PMI and Halifax House Price Index will provide additional insight into domestic conditions there.

In the Asia-Pacific region, the markets will be eyeing trade and inflation data from key economies including China, South Korea, and Taiwan. Australia’s PMI readings suggest a slowing pace of economic growth, raising questions about the sustainability of recovery trends ahead of Wednesday’s Q3 GDP data release.
