We’re back with a fresh edition of our Weekly Market Preview, featuring all the usual market highlights to look out for over the coming days. This includes the biggest economic data and earnings reports expected on the release sheet. By utilising our helpful breakdown below, traders should be in a better position to plot their path and navigate the global markets this week.
Economic Highlights
In the US, a range of important economic data releases are forecast, including core PCE, GDP, durable goods orders, and new home sales. While the markets assess the potential impact of Trump’s additional tariffs introduced earlier this month, much attention will be on the core PCE index. The latest results from the Federal Reserve’s favoured inflation gauge will be interesting to see, particularly in the wake of February’s lower-than-expected CPI reading. Aside from this, other key US-related reports include the final Q4 GDP reading and personal income and spending data.
Across the Atlantic, inflation will be the main topic of discussion, with data reports due in the UK, France, and Spain. The Bank of England remains concerned about UK services inflation, with prices elevated due to strong wage growth and high consumer spending across certain sectors. In a busy week for the UK, retail sales and trade data are also due to be published. Meanwhile in Germany, unemployment data will be released alongside the Ifo and GfK surveys, offering insights into the country’s overall economic health.
As for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, market onlookers are anticipating a much quieter week than usual. However, all eyes will be on the Bank of Japan, which is set to reveal its summary of opinions from its March meeting, along with the minutes from January’s session. Like in Europe, inflation is also on the agenda in APAC, with Australia and Singapore reporting CPI data that should provide further indications into any emerging price trends across the region.
