We have put together the last weekly market preview before Christmas so you can see what’s expected to be released in the financial world over the festive period. Our experts have highlighted the most notable economic data releases due out this week, which is set to be a quieter one than usual.
Economic Highlights
With the year reaching its conclusion, this week will be mostly characterised by market holidays, with Christmas Day taking place on Wednesday. That said, there will be some interesting economic releases to look forward to, including GDP updates from both Spain and the UK, alongside central bank meeting minutes from Japan, Canada, and Australia.
Later on in the week, Japan will also release industrial production and retail sales data, while the US will publish trade figures and wholesale inventories. The current strength of the US economy sits in complete contrast to the somewhat subdued growth seen in Europe and Japan, with the global markets keen to see how tariff-related concerns influence mainland China.
