Economic Highlights
This week, flash PMI data will take centre stage for major developed economies, offering critical insights into central bank policy directions. For the US, key data points include the Federal Reserve’s favoured core PCE inflation figures and a scheduled speech from FOMC Chair Jerome Powell. These events will likely have more impact than any revisions to Q2 US GDP results, assuming they remain modest.
In Europe, the European Central Bank (ECB) watchers will closely monitor flash inflation data for the eurozone, as well as September PMI surveys. These releases will provide early clues on economic growth and price trends across the region. A further deterioration in manufacturing could indicate deeper economic challenges ahead, raising speculation around more aggressive rate cuts.
