In addition to this, we have also selected our top picks from the upcoming round of quarterly earnings reports, with key updates anticipated from Nvidia, Home Depot, and Salesforce.
Economic Highlights
In a busy week for the US, markets will be focusing on Q4 GDP revisions, core PCE data, home sales, durable goods orders, and consumer confidence data, among others. Market expectations indicate a downward revision for US GDP from 2.3%, while the core PCE index is forecast to reflect increasing inflationary pressures. Aside from the US, Canada and Brazil will both publish their Q4 GDP figures, offering a snapshot of each country’s recent economic trajectory.
Across the Atlantic, the eyes of Europe will be fixed firmly on inflation, with the eurozone’s final January inflation figures being closely followed, alongside preliminary data from Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. Meanwhile, France releases its Q4 GDP updates, alongside Germany, which also reveals its business and consumer confidence data via the upcoming Ifo and GfK surveys.
As for the Asia-Pacific region, India’s Q4 GDP report is scheduled for release, following on from encouraging signs of economic improvement in recent PMI data. Australia’s monthly CPI data will also be closely monitored, while central banks in South Korea and Thailand meet, with both expected to focus on rate cuts. Rounding of the week is Japan’s industrial production figures, which should provide valuable insight into the country’s manufacturing performance.
