Economic Highlights

This week, with Donald Trump confirmed as the next US president, focus turns back to key economic releases, including October’s CPI figures, which will offer insight into inflation trends. Additional data on retail sales and industrial production, along with anticipated Fed comments, may shape market expectations for potential rate cuts in December.

In Europe, the UK will release its Q3 GDP data, along with detailed sector-specific output statistics for September. Analysts are watching for confirmation of third-quarter growth amid signals of a potential slowdown in October. Eurozone economic releases, including Q3 GDP revisions, industrial production, and employment figures, will also be an important indicator of the bloc’s economic resilience.

In the Asia-Pacific region, markets will be closely following China’s October industrial production and retail sales data, which may reflect recent supportive measures aimed at stabilising growth. Japan’s preliminary Q3 GDP figures are also scheduled for release, potentially providing insight into the country’s economic recovery trajectory. Additionally, Australia’s employment report is expected to shed light on labour market conditions.
